Obituary

Lillius Richardson became ill on April 2nd and after a week long struggle passed away at her home in Yerington, Nevada on Thursday morning, April 9, 2015 with her family by her side. She was 87.

Lillius was born to Andy & Mamie Dick on August 5, 1927, in Sweetwater, Nevada. In 1937, her family moved to Yerington to be one of the first families to live on the Yerington Tribal Reservation. She married Kenneth "Tex" Richardson in 1950 and had seven children; they lived in Yerington, Smith Valley, Hawthorne, and Gabbs during their marriage.

Lillius became known for her artistic abilities with soap stone carving, macramé creations, cooking and baking. People looked forward to the YPT Elder craft fairs and her yard sales because there was always a variety of delicious, baked goodies; her cream puffs were a special favorite. She was also well known for her promotion of keeping the Paiute language and culture alive; she loved the opportunity of showing how to make buckberry pudding or pinenut soup.

Funeral services were held on April 12, 2015, and she was laid to rest at the Yerington Paiute Tribal cemetery next to her husband.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters: Ida Mae Valdez and Marie Dick; brothers: Howard Rogers, Ed, Glenn, Russell, Frank Dick, and two babies siblings. She is survived by her children: Rebecca (Pete) Kalous of FL; Della Richardson of Reno; Ken (Victoria) Richardson of Schurz; Rosiland (Olen McCloud) Hooper of Carson City; Vonnie Snooks, James Richardson, and Cheryl Kluender all of Yerington. She is further survived by 22 grandchildren and 38 great-grandchildren.

Family and Friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net

Arrangements was under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada 89447 (775) 463-2911
