Obituary

Linda Lee Park passed away unexpectedly on December 16th 2015, at Carson Tahoe Hospital after complications arising from an emergency heart procedure.

She was born on November 2, 1942, to Ben and Linda Harrison in a Smith Valley home near where she spent the majority of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Benny Harrison Jr., and her daughter-in-law Tina Park. She is survived by her husband of over 55 years, Bill Park of Smith Valley, her brother Dan (Linda) Harrison of Washoe Valley, sister-in-law Kathie Mann of Yerington, her four children, Bill Park (Kim) of Smith Valley, Karen (Pat) Heron of Whitefish, Montana, Greg (Kate) Park of Wenatchee, Washington and Sally (Mike) Williams of Washoe Valley. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Christie (Steve) Daliposon, Aimee (Aaron) Pellegrini, Matt Park, Alyssa and Lauren Williams, her five great grandchildren, Colby, Tyler, Camille, Elias and Andy and a multitude of nieces, nephews and cousins as well as two surviving Aunts from the infamous Rosaschi sixteen, Delia Lommori and Darlene Julian.

Linda Lee was raised in Smith Valley and lived most of her life there with the exception of six short years when she lived with her young family in Mason Valley. She graduated from Smith Valley High School before marrying Bill, the only love of her life. As her father before her, she lived the majority of her time on earth, from the cradle to the sunset, all within a one-mile radius in her beloved Valley.
Linda Lee worked at various jobs over the years. She waitressed at Shorty's Café and The Heyday Inn with Shorty Allard where she made thousands of pies, was a store clerk at the Wellington Mercantile with her lifelong friend Norma Peterson, and worked with the Lyon County School District as a bus driver and in the school cafeteria kitchen when they still prepared the meals from scratch. She also made pizzas, first for Boyd's Pizza in TRE and then the CG Bar in Wellington. Finally, later in her life, she worked for the US Postal Service in Smith, Wellington and Coleville. Wherever she worked it was always to be near her family or her community. Linda Lee was always helping her family and friends in the Valley. Whether it was driving them into town for groceries, prescriptions, medical appointments, or to be their loving friend, she was the first to help. She was actively involved in the Smith Valley Fire Department both as a member in the 1970's and later as a supportive daughter, wife, mother and grandmother of EMTs and Firemen. She loved her yard and celebrated each year when the hummingbirds returned to her flower garden. As a young mother, raising her four children was always her highest priority. As her parents aged, she was lovingly attentive to their every need. Eventually her children began giving her grandchildren and they became the focus of her life, inevitably the great-grandchildren became her center. Her family and community were the recipient of her entire heart.
