Dr. Lisa Anne Ross Hayden, 51, of Yerington, died Monday, June 25, 2012, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, Nevada.

Lisa was born December 5, 1960, in Marshalltown Iowa the daughter of Gerald C. and Thelma E. (Rhodes) Ross.

Lisa was a 1979 graduate of Marshalltown High School and graduated from Iowa State University Veterinary College in 1986. She began practicing in Reno Nevada the same year. In February 1992, she purchased the Yerington Animal Hospital and provided loving care to pets and their owners in the Yerington and Hawthorne areas until her death.

Lisa had been actively involved in many community organizations. She loved being the first female president of the Reno Rotary, was a member of the Yerington Rotary and the Moose Lodge, the Yerington Animal Protection Society (YAPS), and served on the Lyon County Animal Advisory Board. She was particularly interested in work related to the respectful treatment of animals and projects to make animals available to those who could benefit from their comforting ways.

Lisa is survived by her husband, Leland (Skip), of Yerington; step-children, who she loved and was so proud of, Daniel and Joseph Hayden, and Tearance and Kellcey Brannan; her mother, Thelma, of Yerington; a sister, Jane, of Osage Beach MO, two brothers, David of Waukee IA and Jeffrey of Cambridge IA; three nieces, two nephews, five grandnieces, and three grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Gerald C. Ross; and her grandparents.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 am on Friday, July 6, 2012 at the Copper Hills Bible Church, 1 Falcon Way Yerington with Pastor Gregg Davies officiating.
