Lola "Diane" Smith passed away on Friday afternoon, April 18, 2014 at Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada from complications from a stroke she suffered on April 14th.  She was 67.

Diane was born on December 16, 1946 in Sanger, California the daughter of David and Juanita (Haynes) Pope.  She married Ronald "Butch" Smith on September 1, 1970.

Diane had worked many jobs during her life but her most important work was always at home raising her children, she loved her family very much.  In 2005, Diane and her husband adopted two of her great grandchildren.

In 2009, Diane and her husband moved to Yerington.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald "Butch" Smith; her two daughters, Gina Hinz of Yerington and Nita Smith of Dallas, Oregon; her six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Smith, and a brother, Mark Pope.

In keeping with her wishes she will be cremated and her family will have a private celebration of her life at a later date.
