Obituary

Lowell John Hussey passed away at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, Nevada on Tuesday, June 24, 2014. He was 101.

He was born in Munden, Kansas on July 7, 1912 the son of John and Ada (Randale) Hussey. He was an Army veteran serving in World War II, was a member of a gun crew of medium artillery in the Army and was involved in battles and campaigns including the Battle of the Bulge and others in the Rhineland and Central Europe. He received two bronze service stars and the good conduct medal.

For the past 57 years he lived in Yerington and prior to moving here he had lived in Kansas, Arizona and Colorado. He loved hard work, he worked to live and lived to work. He had an infectious smile and loved to laugh. He loved his children and being a grandfather. He enjoyed visiting people at the store, Country Sunflower, formerly the L & M shortstop.

Lowell is survived by his sons, Robert Lowell Hussey of Yerington, and Richard Edward Hussey of England; his brother, Allen Hussey of Denver, Colorado; his grandchildren, Kimbarley (Barry) Eggert of Phoenix, Az, Tonja Kutz of Redding, CA, Alida (Alister) Hussey of England, George (Hannah) Hussey of England snd Jovita (Ben) Perry of England; Great Grandchildren, Dieter Meyer of Tacoma, WA, Alitza (Chris) Zuchlewki of Tenino, WA, Tazlina (Matt) Bahny of Seattle, WA, Zackary Kutz of Tacoma, WA, Jarith Mundy of England, Taryn Perry of England, Monae Perry of England and Talula-Ray Perry of England; also by many nieces and nephews including Raymond (Candy) Hussey of South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife of over 50 years, Marie and four brothers, Willard, Carl, Mervin and Merle.

His Memorial service will be held 10:00 am Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. Inurnment with military honors will be held at the family plot at the Valley
View Cemetery. A reception will follow the service at the Country Sunflower.
