Lucio Hernandez passed away at his home in Schurz, Nevada on Tuesday evening, August 15, 2017 surrounded by family.  He was 85.

Lou was born in Imlay, Nevada on November 1, 1931 the son of Lucio and Feliciana Hernandez.  He was a Veteran having served in the United States Marine Corps.  He married Geraldine Leyva on January 11, 1958 in Winnemucca, Nevada.  He was a member of the Schurz VFW.

He is survived by his wife of 59 plus years, Geraldine; his sons, Tony and his wife Maury, Michael and his wife Karen and Sonny; his daughters, Michele and her husband Valo, Lisa and her husband Jose, Melanie and her husband David, Maria and her husband Devon and Julie and her boyfriend Mitch; his sister, Vicenta Hernandez, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Chevy, John, Jess, Andrew, Nicholas and Joe, his sister, Mary and a grandson, Ryan.

Lou's funeral service will be 11:00 am Saturday, August 26, 2017 at the Tribal Gym in Schurz.  burial with military honors will be at the Schurz Cemetery.  A viewing will be held at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington on Friday, August 25th, 6:00 - 8:00 pm
