Obituary
Luther Junior Reese passed away on Thursday, June 4, 2015 at the South Lyon Medical Center/Long Term Care in Yerington after a five month stay. Luther passed away from complications of a Meningioma/brain tumor. He was a donor to the Sierra Organ Donor program. He was 75.
Luther was born in Taney County, Missouri on December 9, 1939 the son of Luther F. and Doris (Betz) Reese. The Reese family moved to Yerington in 1957 where Luther graduated from high school, after graduation he enlisted for six years in the Nevada Army National Guard.
He had worked for the Anaconda Copper Company, the Hawthorne Naval Ammunition Depot. In 1970 he started his business selling horse and stock trailers as "Reese Trailer Sales".
His interests included racing cars, Hot August Nights, NASCAR and rodeo. His biggest accomplishment was riding and training horses for cutting horse competition, of which several horses went on to win multiple Nevada, California and other major west coast and National cutting horse events.
Luther is survived by his wife of 54 years, Alyce; his daughter, Greta (Ed) Moreda; granddaughters, Paige and Ally Moreda; his brothers, Richard (Chris) Reese, Billy (Ruthann) Reese; sisters, Loretta (Tony) Zeppieri and Susan (Carmen) Wommack; brother-in-law, Bill (Sherri) Merriwether and sister-in-law, Alma Cunningham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his Daughter, Lynda in 2010.
A Celebration of Life and friendship luncheon will be held 12:00 Noon on Saturday, June 20 at the Pioneer Crossing Convention Center.
The family suggests donations in his name to the South Lyon Medical Center/Long Term Care, Attention: Social Services, PO Box 940 Yerington, NV 89447, which will be used to purchase needed equipment and or supplies.
