Lydia Valija Kirsteins, age 91, peacefully passed on March 10, 2015, back to the Home of our Maker. She had a smile on her face....
She was known as the 'Chocolate Candy Lady' especially at her church, Faith Lutheran. All the members of the congregation are thanked for their love and support, and special recognition is given to Nancy Goldsmith for her daily vigilance at being by her side so she wouldn't be alone. Thanks go to the entire working staff at SLMC Long Term Care; to those at MVR and Yerington Manor.
She had a couple of infamous lines that folks remember her by, one of which went like this, "Live it up while you're still young, because you are old for a really long time." May we all remember to live each moment fully with gratitude and respect for ALL the moments, so to create beautiful memories. Her children, Debbie and Ingrid, loved and understood her. Her older sister, Eleanora lives in the Bay area; her younger sister, Lauma still in Latvia. Her relatives here, grandchildren, Julia and Vincent; niece and grandnephew, Marite & Andrejs. All loved her and honored her great Spirit.
In keeping with her wishes no local services will be held. Memorial donations may be made in her name to a charity of one's choice. Peace to all. Family and friends are invited to sign her online memorial book and leave messages for the family at www.FRFH.net
Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada 89447 (775) 463-2911.
