Obituary
Madeline Rodgers passed away Saturday afternoon, September 7, 2013 at her residence 'Just Like Home' in Yerington, Nevada with her daughter by her side. She was 96.
Madeline was born in Milpitas, California on April 8, 1917 the daughter of Frank and Nora Garcia. She met Ben Rodgers at a Portuguese Fiesta and they were married soon after and were blessed with three wonderful children, James, David and Christena. Ben and Madeline were happily married for over 59 years, until Ben passed away in 1995.
Madeline had worked as a waitress at the "Hometown Cozy Kitchen" and was a clerk at the Milpitas Post Office. They moved to Yerington in the early 1970's. Madeline's main joy in life was taking care of her family. She also helped raise her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Madeline moved into 'Just Like Home' a few years after Ben died and spent the last ten years at the home being treated like a queen.
Madeline's legacy will live on with her son, James and his wife Elaine; her daughter, Christena and her husband Paul; and her daughter-in-law, Lavonne; her grandchildren, Steve, Ted, Karen, Anastasia, Monte, Davone, David Jr.,and Sasha; her great grandchildren, Christopher, Ashley, Breanne, Roshelle, Anthony, Samantha, Nathan, Cole, Brooke, Dakota, Rylee, Reegan, Luke, Karlee, Jacen, and Jaxen; her great great grandchildren, Owen, Alyssa, Aryka and Alayna. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Carlie; her husband, and her beloved son, David. Madeline touched all the family with her love of life, generosity, wit and moxy. She will be greatly missed!
A Rosary will be held 10:30 am, Thursday, September 12th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 103 N. West Street Yerington with her Funeral Mass to follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be in the family plot at Valley View Cemetery.
