Margaret Kathryn Pierce passed away on Friday evening, October 16, 2009, at the Carson Tahoe Hospital in Carson City, Nevada. She was 87.

Margaret was born in Woburn, Massachusetts on August 8, 1922 the daughter of George and Elizabeth (Doherty) Nelson. She moved from Woburn, MA where she lived for over 85 years to Wellington, Nevada in 2007 to live with her son, daughter and granddaughter. She was known in Yerington and Smith Valley as "the dancing lady". Margaret loved to dance and would often be seen dancing her way through the grocery store if the music had a good beat. She attended the Smith Valley United Methodist Church with her daughter. Her sweet smile and cute giggle will be sorely missed by all that knew her.

She is survived by her son, Lawrence, her daughter, Jeanne and her granddaughter, Noelle and grandson, Peter Ittner; her brother and sister-in-law, George and Lillian (Sis Sweeney) Nelson of Medford, sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law Jeanne (Pierce) and Bob Tedesco, Marilyn (Pierce) and Angelo Piazza, Martha (Pierce) Grigg, Florence (Pierce) and Neil Foster, David and Betty Pierce, Sandra (Pierce) Proia, Bob Pierce, Frances (Carey) Pierce. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edgar L. 'Larry' Pierce in January 2008.

A funeral service will be held 1:00 pm Thursday, October 22nd, 2009 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with Pastor Martha Milk officiating. Margaret will return home to Woburn, MA where she will be buried at the Calvary Cemetery.
