Marie Balaam who was a lifetime resident of the Mason Valley passed away on June 12th. She was 77.

Marie was born in Smith Valley on February 7, 1931. She graduated from Yerington High School in 1949. She married Donald Balaam on December 4, 1949. She worked for the local post office for 25 years and was active in Lyon County Hospital Auxilliary, Saint Anne's Guild, the Catholic Federation and was a member of the "Friday Lunch Bunch". She loved to cook and her favorite times was when the whole family would get together to make ravioli's. she loved her flowers, especially roses. She and Don could be found at most of the local car shows throughtout the summer months with their 1937 Ford pickup. Marie also loved to visit friends and was always there to do a kind deed.

She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Donald; her sons, Dennis (Diane) and Bruce (Ellen) Balaam; her sister, Linda Matteoni; her five grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. she was preceded in death by her parents, Orazzio and Gemma Lommori; a sister, Caroline Lommori and brothers, Tony and Nat Lommori.

Funeral service will be 10:00 am Saturday, June 14, 2008 at the Holy Family Catholic Church 37 N. West St Yerington with a Rosary preceding the mass at 9:30 am. Burial will be in the family plot of Valley View Cemetery.
