Obituary

Martha S. Collins went peacefully back to her Heavenly Father on Monday evening, August 17, 2009 at South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington, Nevada. She was 80.

Martha was born in Salt Lake City, Utah on March 31, 1929 the daughter and second youngest of 10 children to Sam and Carrie (Andersen) Famas. She grew up in Pomona, California and attended local schools there, met her husband John Collins in San Diego at Delmar Park and married him two months later which turned into 52 1/2 years of complete love and friendship. After their three children had grown and were on their own, her and John decided to move to Yerington and have been here 22 years.

Martha was a loving wife, mom, sister, daughter, aunt, grandma and great-grandma who will greatly be missed by all.

She is survived by her loving husband, Retired Staff Sgt. Johnnie Collins of Yerington, NV.; daughters, Laurinda Turner of Yerington, NV., Rhonda (Ray)Nelson of Chico, CA.; son, James (Susan) Collins of FL.; sister, Anita Huebsch of AZ. Brothers, Dan(Lois)Famas of Bull Head City, AZ.
and Raymond (Lucille) Famas of AZ.; 13 grandchildren, Melissa(Bob) of Yuba, CA., Stephanie, Amanda, Bryan (Jill) Collins of GA., Kari, Cody, Nicholas (Desi)Collins of WA., Melanie, Robert(Cassi)of Yerington, NV., Todd(Morgan)of CA., Lyle Portugle, Katianne and Hannah; 6 great-grandchildren, Brandon of FL., Dakota of Yerington, NV., Michelle & Christopher of WA., and Akashia of Yerington, NV. She was preceded in death by parents, sisters, Joshephine, Ruby, and Lola ; brothers, George , Charles and Orland; one infant greatgrandson; and sister-in-law, Betty Famas.

The Family wish to thank Dr. Sharon Malotte and Staff, Candice and the Staff at Dr. Mary Wing, XL Hospice, Terry and the girls at Home Health, a special thanks to Krissi for your love and care you gave mom, and that special walk. And especially Kathy Clements for all you did and tried to do to help keep mom home as long as Dad and I were able to.

A visitation will be held at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington on Friday, August 21, 2009 from 6 - 8:00 pm. Her Graveside Service will be held 10:00am Saturday, August 22, 2009 at Valley View Cemetery in Yerington.
