Obituary

Mary J. Boatwright passed peacefully on Saturday morning, January 29, 2011 at the SLMC, Long Term Care in Yerington. She was 95 years young.

She was born July 21, 1915 in Edgefield, South Carolina the daughter of Alvin Bryan and Mary (Cogburn) Bryan. At the age of 17, she married Willie T. (Bill) Boatwright on September 24, 1932 and had been married 64 years at the time of his passing in 1986.

Mary enjoyed knitting, sewing, reading, volunteering, baking, food in general, and her favorite thing was being around her family, having fun. She had many friends and everyone loved and respected her. She was a past member of Mason Valley Women of the Moose, SLMC Hospital Auxiliary for over 20 years, AARP, RSVP, volunteered at the ALIVE Green House Thrift Store, was a member of the Women's Democratic organization and volunteered at the Older Americans of Lyon County Senior Center.

Mary is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Robert(Bob) and Becky Boatwright; by her 5 grandchildren who she adored, Deborah Dale of Fairplay, CA, Robert Boatwright, Jr. of Salida, CO, Ben Boatwright of Carbondale, CO, Jason Boatwright of Silt, CO and Jeromy Pierroz of Lincoln, CA; her great grandchildren, Sarah Gaidano, Charlie Dale, Miriam Bosch, Nick Boatwright, Jacob and Daniel Boatwright, Jade Pierroz and Samuel Boatwright; her 4 great great grandchildren, Christopher and James Gaidano, Israel and Isabella Bosch; and three nephews, Ernest Bryan, Jr., Dixon Bryon and William Hall, Jr.. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, her brother, Ernest Bryan and sister Leila Margaret Hall and her only niece, Mary Louise Mitchell.

In keeping with her wishes, Mary will be cremated and private inurnment will take place at a later date. Mary lived a long and full life and was loved by so many and will be sorely missed, she was a true 'Southern Lady'.
