Mary Sue Whatley passed away at her home in Mason on Sunday evening, July 12, 2009. She was 79.
Mary Sue was born in Telluride, Colorado on March 31, 1930 the daughter of Robert and Oda (Collins) Alexander. She had married George Evan Whatley in Norwood, Colorado on October 24, 1953. Mary Sue had been a teacher for over 25 years, locally teaching Kindergarten and 5th grade. She enjoyed Golf and was a member of the local women's group.
She is survived by her children; Jay and his wife Susan Whatley of Sparks, NV, Lori Whatley of Yerington, Kelly and her husband Tim Veil of Yerington and Tracey Makiej of Grass Valley, CA; her brothers Robert Alexander of Silver City, NM and Kirk Alexander of Norwood, CO; her sisters, Irene Kinion of Montrose, CO, Helen Heald of Olathe, CO and Betsy Davis of Norwood, CO; her grandchildren, Evan Whatley of Reno, NV, Steven Whatley of Reno, NV, Alex Nightingale and her husband Rick of Green River, WY, Scott Veil and Michael Veil of Yerington and Stevie and Kaitlin Makiej of Grass Valley, CA; 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Guy and her husband.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Saturday, July 18th at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. A reception will follow the service to be held at the Mason Valley Country Club.
