Obituary

Audrey Maxine Booth Hansen, age 81 of Yerington, left this world to go to heaven early Sunday morning, December 9, 2007. She was born February 8, 1926 to Georgia June and Thomas Swithers Booth on Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. Her Mother moved the family to Yerington in 1926 when Maxine was 9 months old. According to family stories, her Mother worked as a cook on several Mason Valley ranches before moving into town.

Maxine attended school in Yerington, graduating from Yerington High School in 1944. She attended the University of Nevada, Reno as a journalism major. She met Gardnerville native, Raymond L. Hansen after he returned from serving his country in the U.S. Navy. They were married February 18, 1947. They lived in Reno for a few years where two children were born. Their third child was born in Yerington before the family moved to Vallejo, California where her husband worked in construction and their younger two children were born. In 1956, Maxine moved back home to Yerington with her children.

While still attending Yerington High School, Maxine worked at the Brooks Hotel (later known as the Yerington Hotel). When she returned to Yerington in 1956, she began her 30 years of employment in the Medical Records Section at Lyon Health Center. She made many life long friends while working at the hospital. She retired in 1986 to start a life of gardening, reading books and the newspaper. She had a sense of humor that caught a person off guard at times. She was a loyal Democrat and active at the local and state level. She was never shy about letting you know which candidate should be elected. She was pround to be an American Citzen.

Our family would like to acknowledge the many blessings of our meighbors, Lawrence and Mildred Matheus and their children. They were an extended part of our family who helped us in every part of our lives.
