Melvin Franklin Prince passed away at his home Thursday afternoon, April 8, 2010 in Yerington, Nevada. He was 85.
Mel was born in St. George, Utah on April 23, 1924 the son of Franklin and Florence (Hemenway) Prince. He served in the United States Army during World War II serving as a Platoon Sgt and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater. He received the Philippine Liberation service ribbon with bronze star.
Mel moved from Utah to Yerington in 1952. He worked as a Heavy Equipment operator for Anaconda Mine. He married Birdie Houston in 1957 in Las Vegas, Nevada
Mel is survived by his Son, Don, his daughter and son-in-law, Velma Jean and Jerry Richardson; his grandchildren Donnie Prince, Tricia Richardson and Brian Richardson; his great grandchildren, Morgan Prince and Ross Richardson; also by a brother and a sister. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Birdie.
Family graveside service was held with military honors at Valley View Cemetery.
