Mike was born in New Ulm, Minnesota on August 28, 1936 the son of Robert and Harriet (Fisher) Fesenmaier.
Mike served in the U.S. Army for nearly 3 years as a Morse Code Operator stationed in Kyoto, Japan.
Mike had married Mary Albrecht in Yerington, Nevada on October 15, 1966.
He had lived for over 50 years in Smith Valley having come from New Ulm, Minnesota. Mike was inducted into the NIAA Hall of Fame in 1999 bolstered by 21 Nevada State Championships as Head Track and Field Coach and assistant football coach at Smith Valley High School. He also officiated high school basketball games for 28 years including 22 consecutive years refereeing in the post season and 5 state championship games. Mike always said that he was blessed with all of the lifelong acquaintances he made in his many years of teaching, coaching and officiating and was friends with many until his passing.
Mike is survived by his wife of over 46 years, Mary of Smith; his children, Chawn (Greg) Tipton of Scottsdale, Az, Cher Fesenmaier of Phoenix, AZ, Chad (Malaina) Fesenmaier of Elko, Chelsea Fesenmaier of Smith and Christopher Fesenmaier of Santa Barbara, CA,; his twin brother, Gerald Fesenmaier of St. Cloud, MN, his sisters, Barbara Molitor of Rogers, AR and Anne Zahn of Park Rapids, MN; his grandchildren, Zoe Tipton, Zane Tipton, Ysanna Fesenmaier, Andoni Fesenmaier, Bernard Fesenmaier and Clare Fesenmaier.
The family held a Memorial Mass service at St. John's the Baptist Catholic Church in Smith with Father Paul McCollum officiating, inurnment of Mike's cremains was held at Hillcrest Cemetery following the Mass.
