Michelle Sandra Luning died suddenly on April 22, 2009 at her home in Yerington of natural causes. She was 65.

She was born in Richmond, California on August 12, 1943. She was an amazing woman with a green thumb and a giving heart. She cared for her family and friends, always doing her best to help when she could as well as a few times when she couldn't. She also helped those she did not know. She was a person to admire and a hero to her family. She had a full and accomplished life, leaving behind a loving son who grew into a man and beloved grandchildren who adored her. More then one person has breathed easier in life because of her. The world is a better place because of the love and gifts she left.

She is survived by her son, Michael and his wife, Tara; her grandchildren, Michaela and Matthew; her brother, Dennis Lowrey and her sister, Maureen Shafer.

In keeping with her wishes no memorial service was held. Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home was in charge of the cremation arrangements.
