Mucie Madewell Morton passed into the Lord's hands on Wednesday morning, March 24, 2010 at South Lyon Medical Center/LTC in Yerington, Nevada. She was 97.
Mucie was born on January 22, 1913 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma the daughter of Jacob and Florence (Bridgeford) Dykes. She moved to California with her first husband, Louis Madewell and their three children. After a short time in California they moved to Yerington, Nevada in 1942 and added two more children to the family. Mucie worked for many years at the Yerington Grocery. She then met and fell in love with Leonard Morton and married him and they had two sons. After her marriage to Leonard, they owned and operated the EFF N BEE soda fountain. After closing the EFF N BEE soda fountain, she decided to become an Avon lady which she enjoyed doing for many years. After she retired from selling Avon she enjoyed being a member of the Red Hat society and working in her yard and tending to her flowers.
Mucie is survived by her daughter, Lota (Romeo) Rosaschi; sons, Wesley Madewell, Vernon (Cindy) Madewell, Carl (Lori) Morton and Danny (Sherrie) Morton; a brother, Sam (Lois) Dykes and a sister Ollie Daefield; twenty-two grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, seven sisters, two brothers, her daughters, Barbara Troutman and Verna Shatto, daughter in -laws, Laura Magnuson (Vernon) Madewell, Ronda Johnson (Wesley) Madewell, her grandsons, Romeo (Buddy) Rosaschi and Robert Wesley Madewell.
Mucie's funeral service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, April 3rd, 2010 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with Pastor Greg McCabe officiating. Burial will be at the family plot in Valley View Cemetery.
