Long time Yerington resident Nancy Carol Poli passed away peacefully in Orem, Utah on Friday, December 18, 2009. She was 79.
Nancy was born in Almo, Idaho on April 30, 1930. She married Felice John Poli on November 7, 1948 in Yerington, Nevada where they lived and ranched for over 50 years. Nancy was a devoted Mother and Wife, who took great pride in her home and family. She enjoyed homemaking and making her surroundings beautiful. Her vibrant and energetic personality was an inspiration to many. She was a leader in the Farm Bureau, serving as Nevada State Women's Chairman. During her tenure she enjoyed tea at the White House with Mrs. Pat Nixon. She was very active in politics, working diligently to get her favorite candidates elected and was dedicated to the cause of freedom. She and her husband, John were state delegates to the 1968 National Democratic Convention. She also served as a member of the Nevada State Land Law Review Board. As a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints she served in many callings in her branch and ward. She was a compassionate, caring person, always willing to help those in need.
Nancy is survived by her two daughters, Carol Lawson (Larry) of Orem, Utah and Catherine Marcy(Lester Busby) of Palm Springs, CA; her six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren; her siblings, Tom (Barbara) Annett of Greeneville, TN, Teresa (Lynn) Green of Glendora, CA and Dawn (David) Everett of Toquerville, UT. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, and her son, Stephen.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am on Friday, January 8, 2010 at the Jesus Christ Church of Latter-day Saints 600 North Oregon Street, Yerington. Burial will be at the family plot in Valley View Cemetery. A lunch will be served at the LDS church following the service.
