Obituary

Nelson E. White went home to be with the Lord on February 19, 2009, at his home in Vancouver, WA.. He was 84.

Nelson was born on October 26, 1924 to Leo and Ada White of Linn, MO. He accepted Christ as his personal Savior as a young child at Solid Rock Baptist Church in Linn, MO. After he graduated from High School, Nelson joined the Air Force where he fought in the Battle of Saipan in World War II.

Nelson is survived by his daughter Linda Lee Green and husband Allen Wayne Green of San Marcos, CA, grandson Christopher Lee Bellows of San Diego, CA, brother Roscoe Lee White and wife Delores of Fairless Hills, PA, sister Rhua Bernice Smith of Westphalia, MO, sister Venona Myrine Bergmeier and husband John of Topeka, KS, sister Virginia Eleanor Castelo, and many nieces and nephews.

Nelson loved his horses and spent most of his life on his ranch in Wellington, NV. He was very active at Smith Valley Baptist Church. He was one of the founders and helped with the building of the church.
He also loved serving the Lord in the mission field. In 2001 he helped Kathy Anderson and her husband Chuck build a safe haven for the school kids at Hillcrest Baptist Church in Kamloops, BC, where they served hot chocolate and invited them in to be safe during the lunch hour. He was there for 3 weeks and loved every day with those kids.
In 2002 he joined Kathy and Chuck in Alpharetta, GA, and worked at the North American Mission Board in the adult volunteer center where he helped get workers to build a new church in Alabama and a second one in Tennessee.
In 2003 he helped Kathy and Chuck in Georgia working with the hurricane center getting volunteers to the aftermath of storms in the Midwest.
Nelson also helped build 2 Baptist churches in Tanzania in February and May of 2004. He helped build the elementary school there at Mount Meru Baptist University, so the student's children could go to school at the same time as their fathers.
He helped conduct block parties at Jericho, a weeklong evangelism event in Washington in 2005. He was great at bagging popcorn!
He spent the last four years of his life in Vancouver, Washington, being cared for by his Sister-in-Christ, Kathy Anderson. The family is eternally grateful for her loving care.

Memorial services are planned for 2:00 pm Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Smith Valley Baptist Church in Smith, Nevada. Burial with military honors will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery.
