New Years Eve 1925 Nita was born in Oakland California. Shortly thereafter her family of nine moved to Madera California where her father began farming. Nita was the youngest of seven. After high school she set her sights on San Francisco to begin her career. She worked for Pacific Tankers while doing some modeling. Some time later she moved to Los Angeles and worked for Douglas Aircraft where she met and later married Don Kerrigan.  Nita passed away on Saturday morning, June 10, 2017 at the Long Term Care of South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington.

Moving to Reno was quite the adventure as her new life was once again on a ranch, White Creek Ranch became home.
While in Reno Nita worked as a proof reader for the Reno Gazette Journal .  In 1963 her family moved to Carson City where she worked for Mountain Medical Center.

Divorce and retirement lead her to meet Ben Hawkins whom she later married and moved to  Zephyr Cove Lake Tahoe.
Nita and Ben traveled extensively in Great Britain and Wales concentrating on long lost relatives in Wales. Ben passed away in 2000.

In 2006 Nita moved to Yerington to reside on her daughters property.

Her 92 years on this planet overall was a good time. For all those who knew her they appreciated her quick wit and talent for telling stories.

Nita is survived by her daughter Cathy Kerrigan, nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.

A family gathering will be held later this year.  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book.
