Owen Earl Barton was called home early due to a tragic encounter involving Lyon County Sheriffs deputies on January 16, 2020. He was 66.
He is being embraced by his sweetheart, Jaqueline "Jaxie" Matheson-Barton, his devoted parents, Sarah "Jane"Barton, and Owen "Delos" Barton. He is survived by his loyal companions Max and Freckles; his daughter Golda "Goldie"; his two grandsons, Linden and Wesley Barton; his brothers, Glade Barton (Linda) and Kendall Barton; his sisters, Cindy Chesworth (Bob), Delva Hommes (Chris), Deloras Barton-Simmons and many nieces and nephews.
Owen served our country during Vietnam exceeding his 4 year term and continued to serve in his community as an electrician for 35 years known as "Barton Electric". Owen was an advocate for those without a voice. He brought meals to the elderly without families in the area and spent his last few years providing clean drinking water for his neighbors and the residents of Poverty Flats. As of late, he loved feeding the wild quail and prospecting the mineral rich mountains of Mason Valley. A special thank you to those who took the time to befriend and look in on my father.
Please join us for a tribute to Owen's life on Saturday February 1st, 2020 at 1 p.m. in the picnic area south of Wilson Canyon. We welcome all veterans who would like to attend the tribute to support their brother in arms. Please contact Sheri for directions, (775) 297-6358
