Pancho Quintero passed away on Sunday, September 7, 2014 at the Renown Medical Center in Reno, Nevada. He was 81.
Pancho was born in Schurz, Nevada on November 23, 1932 the son of Patricio and Jennie (Quartz) Quintero, Pancho joined the United States Marine Corps, March 1950 and served during the Korean War. He received the Good Conduct Medal, the United Nations Service Medal, the National Defense Medal and the Korean Service Medal with 2 Stars.
After his service he had worked as an Ambulance driver, a Bartender and also owned Cattle and Buffalo. He was a partner in the Quintero Excavating business and retired in 2010.
He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Alfreda, his children, Lolia (Paul), Cynthia(Tony), Randall(Suzie), Vincent(Jeanette), and Regina; his 16 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his children, Rudolph and Robert; his brothers and sisters, Whitney, Roland, Doug, Beatrice and Patricia.
A visitation will be held 6 - 8:00 pm on Thursday, September 11th at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. His Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, September 13th at the Schurz Tribal Gym with inurnment at the Schurz Cemetery with military honors. A reception will follow the graveside service at the tribal gym.
