Paul Joseph Ries, Jr. passed away early Wednesday morning, September 16, 2009 at the Regent Care Center in Reno after a long illness. He was 74.

Paul was born December 29, 1934 in Iowa the son of Paul and Agnes Ries. He served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He married Shirley Thomas on October 3, 1980 in Reno, Nevada. He has lived in Yerington for over 14 years coming from California. Paul was involved in the Men's Golf League and also the Bowling League. He donated his time to Senior taxes.

He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his children, Father James Ries, Jonathan Ries and Rhonda Shumaker; his brother, Milo Ries and his sisters, Wilma (Sylvester) Ploessl, Mary Ann Knudson and Martha (Travis) Holden; his grandchildren, Ruby Shumaker and Emmett Shumaker and 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Richard Ries and a brother-in-law, Bill Knudson.

Paul's Memorial service will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 10th at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, NV. Military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post #9.
