Obituary

Beloved mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and great-great-grandmother, Pauline Mae (McCutcheon) Stockton passed away on Wednesday September 3, 2020 at the age of 92 in Yerington, Nevada.

Pauline was born on September 26 th , 1927 in her family home in Snowball, Arkansas to parents Perry and Nettie Mae McCutcheon.

At an early age Pauline moved with her parents to California, first to the Hardwick area and later to Laton.  There she met and married William (Buck) Stockton and they had four children; Ken, Ed, Wayne and Pam.

Pauline was a hard worker all of her life both at home and outside the home.  She worked in hospitals as a nurse's aide and also did private care.  She spent many years as the head of Central Supply at Selma District Hospital, retiring at age 65.  She took great pride in her work and the Doctor's especially, generously expressed their appreciation to her.  They knew that their particular surgical instruments would be correctly packaged just the way each of them liked.

Mom had many talents.  She was a lifelong fisherman.  In the 1950's, she and dad would deep sea fish out of Morro Bay, California.  She and dad fished the many lakes and rivers in California until dad's passing in 1968.  Mom continued to fish every chance she got with her children at many lakes in California, Nevada, and deep sea fishing with family in Washington off the coastline of Whidbey Island.  She especially loved her trips to the mountains and coast.  In her later years she wasn't able to fish as much as she liked but would go when she could to watch and support her kids and grandkids.  She always loved a great fish story and a lot of wonderful memories were made on our families fishing, camping, and hunting trips.

Mom was a meticulous seamstress and made most of our clothes growing up.  She always said by making them we wouldn't see ourselves coming and going in the halls at school.  In those days most people shopped in the same stores.  We always got a lot of complements.  Mom sewed beautiful and cute clothes for the grandbabies and great grandbabies as well as crocheted and knitted many Afghans and sweater sets for the young an old in our family.   All of which we so cherish.

Mom could bake like no other.  She made the best pies, yeast rolls and pastries.  Our friends knew there would always be goodies at our house but not last too long if they took their time in coming over, they disappeared pretty quick.

Mom loved her flowers, especially roses.  We always said she had the proverbial green thumb.  She got great joy in attending to them and watching them grow and bloom.  She loved being outside in the fresh air taking care of her yard and flowers.

Pauline is survived by her son Ed and wife Linda Stockton; son Wayne Stockton both of Yerington, Nevada:  Daughter Pam and husband Larry Hunt of Whidbey Island, Washington and Daughter-in-law Cheryl Stockton of Riverdale, California.

Pauline was not only a beloved mother, she was a loving and much loved grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great grandmother.  She leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Perry and Nettie Mae McCutcheon; husband Buck Stockton. Son Ken Stockton, great grand-daughter Layla Rose Hylton, brothers Paul and Alvin McCutchen.

Mom was much loved and will be greatly missed and will always be in our hearts.

A graveside service will be held 10:00 am Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Laton, California.  Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net
