Pete Albert Aiazzi passed away at the Northern Nevada Medical Center in Sparks, Nevada on Sunday morning, December 2, 2012 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimers. Pete was 84.
Pete was born at home in Yerington, Nevada on December 12, 1927 the son of Italian immigrants, Emilio and Vinila Aiazzi. He and his siblings lived on the home ranch (now known as Aiazzi Lane) and attended school in Yerington.
Pete served in the United States Army. He married Estelle in the winter of 1949 in Reno a few days after his 22nd birthday. After moving from Reno a few years later, Pete spent the remainder of his life in Yerington. During his life he served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and was an active Mason, Shriner and member of the Jester's Court. He was the owner and operator of Yerington Tire for 35 years. A man of few words, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, wine making, horseback riding, gardening and ranching.
He is survived by his wife, Estelle; his oldest son, Stephen and his wife Denise Aiazzi; his daughter, Joan and her husband James R. Shaffer; his four grandchildren, Dominic Aiazzi, Audrey LeGrasse, Heidi Aiazzi and Lindsey Shaffer; his sister, Adina Pacini; his two brothers, Reno and Leno Aiazzi; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his siblings, Gino, Lina, Angelo, Roy, Ray and Ruth and his youngest son, Ronald.
His Memorial service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. A reception will follow the service at Dini's Giuseppe's Steakhouse
