Richard Dean Lance passed away at his home in Yerington on Sunday morning, August 9th, 2009. He was 81.

Dean was born in Enid, Oklahoma on July 8, 1928 the son of Gordon and Edna (Himes) Lance. He was an Army veteran having served during the Korean War. He married Mattie B. May 28, 1958 in Reno, Nevada. She passed away December 6, 2000. He had lived in Yerington since 1956 where he homesteaded his place east of Yerington. He enjoyed playing Country and western music and enjoyed golf.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Lita and her husband Alan of Gabbs, Nevada, Diane and her husband Luck of Paonia, Colorado; his sisters, Havonne and her husband Wendell Marshall of Yerington, Nevada and Delores and her husband Alvin Sprouse of Cross Hill, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Chela Elliott of Elko, NV, Elisa Ramos of Paonia, CO, Toby Ernsberger of Elko, NV, Kylee Ernsberger of Columbia, SC, Taylor Thompson of Lovelock, NV and Katy Spencer of Gabbs, NV; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mattie B., his daughter, Michelle Lance Spencer, his brother, Gordon and Sisters, June Ogden and Marie Raiff.

A memorial service will be held at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington 11:00 am Thursday, August 13th, 2009.
