Richard Menesini passed away at South Lyon Medical Center-Long Term Care in Yerington, Nevada on Friday, May 30, 2014.  He was 77.

Richard was born in Yerington on May 22, 1937 the youngest of three sons born to Giovanni (John) and Marguerite (Pasquino) Menesini.  As a child, Richard attended the Barrett one-room schoolhouse in South Mason Valley, moving to Yerington High School, where he graduated in 1955.  He went from there to business college in Reno earning an Associate degree.

After completing his schooling, he returned to Yerington to work on the family ranch.  In 1958, he married Joyce Craig and they had three children, Bob, Jerry and Nadine.

He started working in the accounting department at the Anaconda mine for a few years, while still helping his family, who by now were operating a variety store in downtown Yerington.  After that, he went to work for himself full time, purchasing the former F & B Restaurant, renaming it "The Fountain".  In 1971, the variety store closed and Richard went to work for the State of Nevada.  He subsequently bought the 'Country Cone' fast food restaurant on North Main Street, and the public could again enjoy his terrific cooking.

Richard served the community of Yerington in several ways.  He was a long time member of the local Lion's Club, and a director and coach for the local little league baseball.  His biggest contributions though, was as a Volunteer Firefighter and Ambulance Tech/EMT.  He spent over 30 years doing both, helping preserve lives and property.  Richard also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Richard is survived by his children, Nadine and her husband Gerry Boschert, Jerry and his wife Renee Menesini and Bob and his wife Rita Menesini; his grandchildren, Chris and his wife Amy Berrington, Ashley and her husband Brian Farmer, Jordan Berrington, Tommy Menesini, Jillian and her husband Brandon Mackie, Morey Menesini, Ben and his wife Justyne Menesini, Ricky Menesini; two great grandchildren, Clayton and Chase.  He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers, Gene and Ray.

Richard's Memorial service will be held 10:00 am Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada.
