Obituary

Robert "Mac" Ray McCandless went to be with the Lord on Saturday, November 10, 2012. He passed away at his home in Yerington, Nevada with his family by his side. He was 83.

Mac was born on June 26, 1929 near Henrietta, Teaxs to Dewey Eugene and Bertha Lavonia (Lunday) McCandless, they were a sharecropper family.

He married Frances Louise Warren in Dallas Texas on April 22, 1949. He then entered the Army serving during the Korean War.

After his service he and his family moved to California in 1951 where he worked for H. G. Smith Oil and Tools, Sunnymaid Dairy Farms as a milkman and KovaKar as a commerical laundry route salesman and deliveryman. He opened his own commerical laundry, Lancaster Industrial Laundry in 1963. He sold shares in that endeavor in 1974 and helped his sons open a new business called A&D Textile Rentals in Yerington. since the close of that business in 1997 he has been a handyman and friend to many and an integral part of A.A. in the area around Yerington.

He was a man who taught by example to accept and love everyone he met. He was very giving, not only to his family, but to anyone in need. His family always came first and we have a treasury of memories that will never be lost.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Fran of 59 years. He is survived by his sons, Allen and his wife Nola of Sheridan, Oregon and David and his wife Deanna of Yerington; 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; numerous nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial service will be held 10:00 am, Saturday, November 17, 2012 at the Smith Valley Baptist Church, 888 Hudson Way Smith. A potluck will follow the service at the church.
