Longtime Yerington resident Robert H. Reynolds passed away on Saturday, October 28, 2006 after a short illness at South Lyon Medical Center.
Bob was born on June 22, 1915 in Red Elm, South Dakota to Maynard E. and Inez Virginia Reynolds. He was the first white child born on the Cheyenne River Indian Reservation. Bob moved to Oregon in 1936 and began his apprenticeship in carpentry. In 1942 his parents and younger siblins joined him in Corvallis, Oregon. He joined the Navy 71st Sea Bee Battalion and served in the Pacific during World War II. Upon release from the Navy he married Margaret Scanlon Souther and settled in Corvallis where their two children were born. In August of 1952 Bob and Margaret and their four children moved to Yerington. He began his General Contractor business at that time. Bob built over 40 homes in Mason and Smith Valley in a career that spanned over 50 years. Bob wa preceded in death by his parents, his wife Margaret, his one sister, Janice Baker and his son Harold W. Souther.
He is survived by his son, Larry and wife Lee Reynolds of Winnemucca; daughter, Barbara and husband Ron of Yerington, daughter Diane and husband, David Fulstone of Yerington, Daughter -in-law, Maria Souther of San Antonio, Texas and a brother, Richard Reynolds of Corvallis, Oregon; Numerous nieces and nephews, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
Funeral service was held 11:00 am Friday, November 3rd, 2006 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with burial at the Valley View Cemetery.
He was a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. Memorial donations may be made to Multiple Sclerosis Society or the Lyon County Musuem.
