Obituary

Ronald Wilfred St. Jean breathed his final earthly breath on May 12, 2016. He died peacefully in his room at South Lyon Medical Center's long-term care facility. Ron was 89 years old.

Ronald was born in Los Angeles, California on February 27, 1927, the only child of Wilfred and Roma St. Jean. In high school, he was a member of the ROTC, and joined the Army/Air Force shortly after graduation. He served in Germany during the time of reconstruction after World War II, and was honorably discharged in December of 1946. He then completed his college education and later went on to earn an MA from UCLA. His younger days found him employed at Northrop in Southern California – later, he retired from a job with the State of Nevada in Carson City and moved to property outside of Yerington, Nevada in the mid-1980's

In August of 1952, Ron met and married his first wife, Anita Young, who brought to the marriage 5-year-old daughter, Sherry, whom he legally adopted. The marriage produced a daughter of their own in 1955, Paulette. The couple divorced in 1958. A son, Leonard, was born in 1965 to Ron and his second wife, Donna Minton. That marriage eventually also ended in divorce.

Personal and relational struggles ultimately led to Ronald's acceptance of God in his life. That path led through several affiliations, including Christian Science and Mormonism. Most recently, he was captivated by the writings of Joyce Meyer and Rick Joiner, spending many hours each week reading and listening to their inspirational material. Ever a seeker of Truth, Ron kept an open mind that allowed him to embrace a variety of teachings, while always centered on his Savior, Jesus the Christ.

From a young age, he displayed an inquiring mind, and was a pursuer of knowledge all his life. Main subjects of interest were anything aeronautical (he also held a private pilot's license), economics and world systems, and most especially, health and the science of the body. He delighted in discussing these topics with others, listening to their ideas as well as sharing his own. Ron also wrote copious short articles that resulted from personal research into various modalities of attaining optimum health. Hobbies included first and foremost, model airplanes. Ron was the designer of the "RamRod," which became a model kit sold in stores. He also wrote many articles for modeling publications, and was a life member of the Academy of Model Aeronautics. He spent countless hours in his shop, designing and constructing a variety of model planes, then testing them out in the desert near his home in Yerington before taking them to competitions.

Ronald is survived by his children: Sherry Wood of W. Richland, Washington, Paulette St. Jean Calton of Wheatland, Missouri, (grandchildren Autumn Nicks, Dannon Nicks, Brennan Nicks, Cameron Nicks, and Summer Nicks, all of Colorado) and Leonard St. Jean of Newbury Park, California (grandson Ryan St. Jean, also of Newbury Park, CA).
