Steven Grant Kostenbader passed away in Reno, Nevada on May 20, 2013 from a stroke. He was 63.
Steve was born in Inglewood, California on May 29, 1949. He graduated from Morningside High School and then went on to LA Tech to learn his trade.
Steve worked for ICX Trucking in Southgate, California for 10 years before moving to Yerington, Nevada. He always said "You can't pick where you were born, but you can pick where you want to live." Steve worked for the Lyon County Road Department as a Diesel Mechanic and later as a Foreman for over 30 years before retiring. Steve enjoyed the outdoors, enjoyed fishing and hunting, he played men's softball and bowled on a league for many years. Steve was a master mechanic, machinist, welder and fabricator. He loved NASCAR and local racing and had built many motors for his racing buddies. Steve was a good friend and he always took the time to help anyone in need.
Steve married Theresa Oppio on August 27, 2006.
Steve is survived by his wife, Theresa of Yerington; his two daughters, Kristina and her husband Tom Mace of Temecula, California, Karen and her husband Albert Jurado of Riverside, California; his grandchildren, Hannah and Holland Espolt, Hailey and Shelby Lambert, Cortney and Grant Mace; his parents, Shirley (Beem) and Malcolm Kostenbader, and his sister, Susan all of Desert Hot Springs, California; his cousin, Deanna Ligget of Central Valley, California; his aunt, Madeline Beem of San Juan Capistrano, California and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Steve's life will be held 11:00 am Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Mason Valley/Yerington Fire Department Hall, 118 South Main Street Yerington, Nevada. A BBQ will follow the service.
