Steven Paul Long passed away at his home in Yerington with his wife, Tammy by his side on Monday morning, January 20, 2014. Steve was 68.
Steve was born in Oakland, California on April 14, 1945 the son of Dempsey and Jewel(Berry) Long.
Steve has been an entertainer for over 40 years. As a boy he was very gifted and his first paid job was at the age of 13 where he performed at a Junior High School dance. His first professional jobs came during his high school years when he had a rock and roll band. He sang Elvis, Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Jerry Lee Lewis. Later he started to perform in San Francisco night clubs. He appeared at many venues in northern and southern California and also in Nevada.
He moved to Las Vegas and started to perform his show "Las Vegas Nights' with his six piece band 'Freedom Train'. He performed for over 14 years in Las Vegas, during this time he also toured for over 9 months Germany, France, England and Spain performing Elvis. He had also performed in Reno and Lake Tahoe.
Steve had produce two albums, 'Two Worlds of Steve Long' and 'Steve Live at the Marina'.
He met his wife Tammy in Las Vegas and they were married June 3, 1991 in Las Vegas.
Steve and Tammy had moved to Yerington where Steve was known as Yerington's Hometown Entertainer for over 20 years. He was also a member of the Moose Lodge.
Steve is survived by his wife, Tammy; his daughters, Steffany, Crystal and Priscilla; his son, Shon Paul; his five grandchildren and his numerous nieces and nephews; his sister, Judy Lafleur and his Father, Dempsey Long. He was preceded in death by his Mother and his brother, Randy.
A Memorial service for Steve will be held 2:00 pm Sunday, February 16th at the Convention Center in Yerington.
