IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Susan
Mcmullen
November 4, 1951 – February 9, 2021
Susan Lynn Warner McMullen passed away on February 9, 2021, peacefully, at home with her family by her side.
Susan was born and raised in Anthony, KS. on November 4
th
, 1951 to parents Lee and Frances. Susan was the youngest of 4 children. She was a beautiful soul who was an example of strength, humor, determination, friendship, and love. We feel like to know Susan is to understand her. Her passion was education, helping people and loving her grandchildren. Susan graduated from Fort Hays State University with a BS in Special Education. She was a special education teacher at all levels for thirty-three years. Following retirement, Susan continued to mentor teachers in Lyon County. Above and beyond her career in teaching, she helped many people transition into living independently in their communities.
Susan later found a passion in making jewelry and expanded those interests to pottery, painting and more. Visitors in the McMullen house were encouraged and guided to express their artistic talent at The Art House. Once grandchildren arrived, they became her everything. Although she fought cancer for 20 years, she never let her cancer journey define her. She lived an "attitude of gratitude" in everything she did.
Susan is survived by her loving husband Rod, her children Josh (Stephanie), Casey (Ryan), Alexandra (Armando) and her greatest joy, her grandchildren Aeris, Carsen, Anson, Abby, Maddie, Everett, Janic and Julian. Her sisters Vickie (Eldon), Carol (Chet), sister-in-law Sherry and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents Lee and Frances and her beloved brother Randy.
A celebration of life in Susan's honor will be scheduled at a later date when everyone can gather. Family and friends are invited to sign her online guest book at www.FRFH.net
