Obituary
Vaughn Silva passed away at this home in Yerington, Nevada on Wednesday morning, October 22, 2014 with his loving family by his side after a long battle with cancer. He was 88.
Vaughn was born in Mason, Nevada on May 12, 1926 the son of Albert and Wilhelmina (Regallo) Silva. Vaughn was a World War II Veteran having served in the U.S. Army.
He had worked as a Dairy Farmer, Brand Inspector, a Parts Man and a Water Master. He also owned the Copper Bowl and was was an auctioneer. Vaughn served as Mayor of Yerington from 1975 to 1983, he was also a Board member of the South Lyon County Hospital District. He was a member of the UPEC, and served as a Board of director, was a Charter Member of the toastmasters, was a member of Rotary, and served as President and was a member of the Nevada league of Cities.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley; his sons, Vaughn B. Silva, Jr., Robert Hanley, Mark Hanley and Steve Silva; his daughters, Jane (John) Tait, Sharon (Dennis) Ryan and Valerie Smith; his sister, Elsie Brower; his grandchildren, Kevin Tait, Jennifer (Don) Brucher, Aprille Hanley, Micah (Elisha) Hanley, Andrew (Sarah) Hanley, Nicholas Taylor, Christopher Dodge, Amy Dodge, Ashley (Jesse) Porteous, Monica Hanley, Melissa Hanley and Amber Hanley; also by his 20 Great Grandchildren.
A Rosary will be recited for Vaughn 7:00 pm Thursday, October 30th at the Holy Family Catholic Church. His Funeral Mass will be held 1:00 pm Saturday, November 1st at Holy Family Catholic Church. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
