Victor R. Sam Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025 at the age of 73.

Born on August 5, 1952 in Schurz, Nevada, Victor had a deep love for his family especially his grandsons who he enjoyed very much. Throughout his life, he was known for his kindness, humor, generosity, and work ethic.

Victor dedicated his life to his children and grandchildren, and found joy in supporting them in everything they did. He touched countless lives through coaching and being a proud council member of the Yerington Paiute Tribe.

He is survived by his wife of 48 years Mayleen, his children Vic Jr. and wife Tawnya Varain-Sam, Mandy, Heather, Holly, Jordy, Kylee, grandchildren Cody, Victor, Jason and Makayla, siblings Geraldine Garcia and Arnold Sam and was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah Sam, mother Iva Reymus, brothers Gerald Sam, Dean Sam, Ronald Sam and sister Verna Quartz. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at the Yerington Paiute Tribe Gym, 171 Campbell Lane Yerington, with a viewing prior to the service at 10:00am.  Burial will follow at the Valley View Tribal Cemetery
