Walter D. Breese, Jr. passed away on Thursday morning, November 18, 2010 at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington from pulmonary complications. He was 90.
Walter was born in Muskogee, Oklahoma on June 28, 1920 the son of Walter and Dora (Barsh) Breese.
He attended schools in Oklahoma and graduated from Central High School in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was an Army veteran having served in the United States Army. He married Merle Henderickson in Oklahoma on December 28, 1938.
Walter worked many years for the U.S. Postal Service. He has lived in Yerington for the past 9 years coming from Modesto, California.
Walter loved to build bird houses. he and his wife, Merle, loved to travel in their motorhome throughout the United States including Alaska and Canada. He was an active member of the United Methodist church.
Walter is survived by his wife of nearly 73 years, Merle of Yerington; his son, Walter of Yerington; his daughter, Becky Smith of Jamestown, California; his sisters Elizabeth Bock and Beverly Scott both of southern California; his grandchildren, Walter and Nathan Breese, Jodi Lewis, Scott Bishop, Edward Bishop, Michael and Dustin Breese; 16 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild.
Walter's memorial service will be held at the Yerington Community United Methodist Church 221 North Main Street on Saturday, December 11, 2010 at 11:00 am with Pastor Martha Milk officiating. His cremains will be inurned in the family plot at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colusa, California.
