Walter Robert Heil passed away on Tuesday morning, August 16, 2011 at the South Lyon Medical Center, Long Term Care in Yerington, Nevada. Walter was 81.

Walter was born in Chicago, Illinois on May 23, 1930 the son of Otto and Magdalena (Lenzen) Heil. Walter served in the United States Army. After his service he married Joan Wolfe in San Francisco, California on February 3, 1962. Walter worked as an Editor for the San Francisco Examiner was also a writer and worked as a press representive and campaign coordinator in 15 San Francisco and California campaigns, including Joe Alioto and Jess Unruh's campaigns. After retirement he moved to Yerington in 1987. He devoted much of his time to traveling with his wife around the United States and Europe. He also become a photographer which he enjoyed very much.

He is survived by his wife Joan of Yerington. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Werner.

A visitation will be held 6:00 - 8:00 pm on Monday, August 22 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home.

Walter's funeral service will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, August 23rd at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. Burial will be in the Valley View Cemetery.
