Wesley Jim passed away at the South Lyon Medical Center/Long Term Care in Yerington, Nevada early Friday morning, September 27, 2013. He was one day shy of his 91st birthday.
Wesley was born in Nixon, Nevada on September 28, 1922 the son of Willie and Lula (Overall) Jim. He graduated from the Stewart Indian School where he participated in all sports.
Wesley was a World War II veteran having served in the United States Navy. He received the Asiantic Pacific ribbon with 3 stars, the Philippine Liberation ribbon with 2 stars, a Victory Ribbon and he also received the Purple Heart Medal.
After his service he returned and married Inez Sharpe in Schurz, Nevada on August 16, 1952.
Wesley had worked for over 30 years as the Maintance Foreman for the Walker River Indian Hospital. He was a sportsman enjoying the outdoors, hunting & fishing.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Inez; his son, Nelson of Grass Vally, California; his grachildren, Hillary L. Picotte, Ellery (Mary) Picotte and Keth A. Picotte; his great grandchildren, Peyton Picotte and Walther W. Jim; his sisters, Margeline Andrews and Ramona Jim; his brother, Harry Jim. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brothers and sisters, also by two daughters, Jacquelyn and Jennifer and grandsons, Darren and Trent.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, October 5, 2013 at the Walker River Tribal Gym in Schurz, Nevada. A viewing will be held prior to the service at the gym begininng at 10:00 am. Burial with military honors will be held at the Schurz Cemetery.
