Obituary
William George Calka, Sr. passed away at his home in Yerington, Nevada on Monday evening, May 12, 2008. He was 77.
He was born in Stamford, Connecticut on December 8, 1930 the son of Francis and Agnes (Wach) Calka. He had served in the US Navy. He enjoyed boating, wood working and gardening. In 1985 he received the Marine Corps Special Services Employee of the Year, which was the first ever presented by MCSS. He was a member and officer of Ponus Yacht Club in Stamford, CT. He had lived the past two years in Yerington.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Hymel of Sterling, CT and Lori Brown of San Diego, CA; his brother, Francis of Cheshire, CT and his sister, Theresa Ellia of Sun City, CA; his grandchildren, Matthew Ide, Kathryn Hartnett, Danielle Brown, Ashley Brown and Justin Brown. He was preceded in death by his wife, Judith and his son, William, Jr.
In keeping with his wishes no memorial service will be held. A family remembrance will be held at a later date. Arrangements and cremation are under the direction of Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home 25 Hwy 208 Yerington, Nevada 89447
