Obituary

William Victor Pursel passed away peacefully at his home in Yerington on Wednesday morning, April 22, 2015. He was 91.

Bill was born August 16, 1923 at the family ranch in Mason Valley the son of Wilton and Alva Williams Pursel, he was the third of nine children. Bill attended the Barrett School and graduated from Yerington High School in 1941. He worked a various ranches before serving overseas in the United States Army. He was a heavy equipment operator and retired from Anaconda. For many years Bill was a bartender at Dini's Lucky Club.

Bill was a life member of Hope Lodge and was elected Master, He was also an active member of the Pizen Switch Shrine Club and served as President. He belonged to the Scottich Rite of the Knights Templar and the Kerak Shrine Temple in Reno. He was also a life member of the VFW. Bill was also elected to the Yerington City Council.

"Uncle Bill" enjoyed hunting, fishing and his family-especially watching his niece and nephew grow up. He enjoyed cooking and was an avid gardener and canned much of what he grew. He always had a great sense of humor.

He is survived by his brother, Jack and his wife Nancy Pursel of Yerington; a niece, Victoria and her husband Jason Ispisua; a nephew Joe and his wife Jenny Pursel, great -niece Kiana Pursel and great nephews, Logan & Gavin Ispisua, Jaxen William and Jadon Pursel all of Reno/Sparks and several cousins. He is also survived by a step-daughter, Phyllis Little and step-granddaughter, Vicky Griner of Placerville, CA. He was preceded in death by his parents, seven siblings and his wife, Marguerite of 43 years.

Funeral service for Bill will be held 11:00 am Tuesday, April 29, 2015 at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington. Burial with military honors will be held at the family plot at Valley View Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers are John Evasovic, Joe Frade, Maurice Freitas, Fred Jones, Melvin Pursel and Charlie Welsh.
