Obituary
Yvonne Jane Phillips Draper, 77, of Yerington, Nevada, passed away on March 23rd, 2017 in Reno, Nevada from complications of a recent surgery.
Yvonne was born in Glasgow, Montana to Wendell and Myrtle Phillips on April 4th, 1939. She lived a short time in Glasgow and Denver prior to settling in Boise where she attended Boise High School and later Idaho State College in Pocatello. While in college, she met the love of her life, Milo Draper whom she married on May 9, 1959. Milo and Yvonne then moved to Yerington, Nevada where they spent the next 57 years. Together they owned and operated the Rex Drug Store until retirement in 2002. Yvonne stayed at home raising her four children before beginning her 20 year career at Yerington Elementary School. Yvonne was involved in many civic organizations, such as South Lyon Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary, Walker River Basin Communities Foundation, and the beautification of Main Street with the annual planting of flower pots. She was the longest serving member of the Lyon County Museum Board of Directors along with serving two years as Board President. Yvonne enjoyed golfing, traveling, gardening; playing cards with her friends, trips to the Performing Arts Center but her most cherished moments were spent supporting her 9 grandchildren in all of their activities. Our dear wife, mother, grandmother, and sister will forever be in our hearts.
Yvonne is preceded in death by her parents Wendell and Myrtle Phillips, sister Maureen Thorpe, and granddaughter Heidi Eaton.
Yvonne is survived by her husband Milo, children; Debbi (Steve) Douglas, Steve (Jennifer) Draper, Diane Eaton, Scott (Anna) Draper. Grandchildren; Brandon, Kevin, Tyler, Garret, Trenten, Cade, Emilee, Savannah & Gavin. Brother Wendell James Phillips (Kathy)….and of course Fuzzy!
Her Celebration of Life service will be held 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 4th (her Birthday) at the Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home, 25 Hwy 208 Yerington with Pastor Tom Chism officiating. Burial will be at Valley View Cemetery.
Donations may be made in her name to Lyon County Museum, SLMC Hospital Auxiliary or the Walker River Basin Communities Foundation.
