Obituary

Ellen "Linda" Elliott, age 78, passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones at the home of her son and daughter-in-law on January 26, 2021 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Linda Elliott was the former school nurse of Lyon County Schools and resident of Yerington, having moved from Reno in 1987 with her husband, Richard (retired Yerington optometrist).

Linda was born and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area to John "Jack" and Ellen Nightingale. She graduated from college with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. She worked as a Registered Nurse in the areas of Pediatrics, Pediatric ICU, Neonatal ICU, and school nursing for 41 years before she retired.

Following retirement, Linda donated her time to several local organizations including The PEO sisterhood of Yerington and Through a Child's Eyes Foundation/ The Studio Academy of Dance & Music. She also enjoyed attending her grandson, Aidan's numerous sporting events. She couldn't have been more proud of the young man he has become

Linda has spent many years researching and writing the genealogy papers of the Nightingale/ Uddenberg/ Walton/ Elliott families. Linda and Rich enjoyed driving in the desert taking pictures, going through old ghost towns and collecting rocks. Linda has an extensive rock collection that she has collected for over forty years.

Linda is probably best known for her smile and generosity of spirit. Every year she grew a bounty of fruits and vegetables in her backyard of which she shared not only from her harvest but also many jars of canned goods she processed. Her cousin, Marie-Merced Thompson remembered her fondly when commenting on a photo of Sean holding Linda's hand, saying goodbye, "Those nurturing hands, that tended to an abundance of beauty and nourishment in a garden ripe with fruit trees of all kinds, hands that hold so much love, of family, friends, neighbors…my beautiful cousin…you are loved."

Linda is survived by her children, Kimberly Brock (husband Charles) and Sean Elliott (wife Sherilyn) and grandson Aidan Elliott. Her adopted daughters, Lorena Morgan and Olga Jaramillo, adopted grandchildren, Kiara (Ross) Stone, Kristopher Ross, as well as Mia, Carly and Benjamin Morgan and first great-grandchild, Cali Jo Stone, born just days prior to her death.

She also leaves behind many wonderful friends and cousins that provided her with love, care and blessed her life throughout the years: Sheldon and Marie-Merced Thompson, John and Carol Graves, Gordon and Melanie Hollett, Perry and Kathy Demma, Kara Nightingale, Amber Lee Nesbit, Allan and Vicky Ross, Dick and Tina Roberson, Bob and Mary Jane Smith, Herb and Cheryle Potter, and her PEO sisters among the many others.

She is preceded in death by her parents as well as her husband of 55 years, Richard "Doc" Elliott.

The family would like to express our sincere appreciation to the many generous hands that helped care for Linda in the past year as she battled cancer. Donations of food, gallons of gas, flowers, love and support. Special appreciation to Sean and Sherilyn Elliott who worked tirelessly to help fulfill Linda's wishes. We are humbled and truly grateful.
